God Keeps the Best Until Last

At the wedding in Cana, the celebration faced an unexpected problem: the wine had run out.

Mary brought the need to Jesus and then gave the servants a simple instruction: “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.” They filled six stone waterpots with water, just as Jesus commanded. When the governor of the feast tasted what was drawn from them, he discovered that Jesus had provided something better than what had been served before.

The governor’s response revealed a larger truth. The world usually presents its best at the beginning and conceals what will come later.

Sin can initially appear attractive, harmless, and satisfying. It appeals to our desires while hiding its eventual cost. It promises freedom but often produces bondage, emptiness, and destruction.

God’s kingdom works differently.

Following God begins with repentance, self-denial, and surrender. It requires us to confront sin, lay down our own will, and take up our cross. The beginning may involve difficult choices, but those choices lead us toward something far better.

As we continue walking with God, we discover peace that passes understanding, joy that cannot be adequately described, freedom from the things that once controlled us, and the gift of the Holy Ghost.

What we experience in this life is only the beginning of what God has prepared. His blessings do not diminish with time. They lead us toward the promise of eternal life in His presence.

The world may offer its best first, but God keeps something better ahead for those who love Him, trust Him, and remain faithful.
