Sometimes God brings something to our attention while it is still small. Rather than waiting for it to become a crisis, perhaps seeing it now is an opportunity to address it, seek God’s help, and make a change.

The patterns and burdens of the past do not have to determine what comes next. Through faith and the power of God, we can stand upright, move forward, and leave a different story for those who follow us.

Our lives can speak far beyond the moments we are living. The prayers we pray, the example we set, and the faith we demonstrate today may help show someone else the way tomorrow.

The hardest thing to leave behind can be what we came to believe about ourselves. Reuben’s story reminds us that the past does not have to have the final word when God is calling us forward.
